PAR2 - Villa Andreas Aliprantis, Marpissa, Paros, Cyclades

This old, restored original Paros house is located on a pedestrian street in the heart of the village of  Marpissa, 15min. walk from the beach and the small fishing port of Pisso Livadi. Shops and restaurants are close by.

This  delightful residence of local historical interest was owned by Doctor Stratis Aliprantis, who was the only medical practitioner on the island for several decades. He visited his patients on the back of a donkey and despite frequently difficult circumstances managed to operate, deliver babies and save lives. He was an active member of the resistance during the occupation of the island and has thus become one of the great legends of Paros. Constructed in the 1700s in the style typical of the Cyclades, this interesting residence has just been completely restored by Dr. Aliprantis’ grandson, Stratis.

The two storey building has a living environment of 220m², comprising of the main house and 2 guest houses, each with a private entrance. The walls are of local stone which has been plastered and whitewashed. The bright summer light is thus reflected from the outside of house, keeping the interior cool.

To retain the original spirit of the house, the décor is simple and the majority of the furniture consists of  antique pieces which have been gathered from around the Cyclades. The ceilings have wooden beams, as do the majority of traditional Cycladic houses.Of good quality, this is an ideal holiday home for a group of family or friends who wish to experience Greek village life.
